Greetings!
Welcome to LifeWork
Letter!
LifeWork Letter is a complimentary monthly
e-Newsletter from Connie Komack and LifeWork
Enterprises, with tips, quotes, and short articles
designed to enrich, empower, and forward the
growth of your life, career, or business.
Collectively, we are going through a seasonal
transition, from the relative ease and leisure of
summer to the busier and more structured days of
fall. This is also a time of year when many of us face
a variety of personal, school, work, and business
transitions. This includes yours truly. And so, the
theme of this newsletter is, once again, Transitions.
Three holidays this month are all about transition.
Labor Day, for most people, is the holiday signaling
the end of our lifestyle summer, if not our calendar
summer. The official seasonal transition from summer
to fall - the autumnal equinox - fell this year on
September 23rd. And finally, for those who celebrate
the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, the new year
began at sundown on September 22nd.
Please feel free to visit my Blog
site, which contains a series of articles relating
to life, business, and career transitions. In the most
recent entry, A Transition Coach in Transition,
I share some thoughts about transition from the
perspective of currently going through one. Other
recent articles are cited in other sections of this
newsletter. Please visit, tell your friends, and return
often!
There is still room in my Designing
Your Life workshop series, which begins
Wednesday,
October 4th, and will run for six weeks, ending
November 8th. See details below.Please
contact me if you are interested in joining
this group. The deadline for registration is Friday,
September 29th.
Feel free to share this newsletter with others.
It is easy to do by clicking on the forward
email link at the bottom of this newsletter.
Happy Fall! And to those who celebrate Rosh
Hashanah, Happy New Year!

Transition is a catalyst for a cauldron of possibility

| A Transition Coach in Transition |
 |
|
Our theme quote for this issue is taken from my
article, A Transition Coach in Transition,
which was published in my Blog on September 24th.
In the article, I share some of my own current
experience of being in transition - yet again - and
what I am learning from it.
Here is another excerpt from that article:
Transitions often create anxiety and fear. Fear of
the unknown is normal and natural. My clients
experience this, and so do I. Having gone through a
number of life and work transitions, I now know that -
scary as it is - a transition is the best thing that
could happen to me, or to you. When you begin to
view a transition as an opportunity, rather than as a
threat, the fear lessens, blocks dissolve, and great
things begin to happen.

| Getting Organized |
 |
|
What does getting organized have to do with
transitions? As I have learned from professional
organizers, Feng Shui practitioners, psychologists,
and other coaches, a state of clutter and
disorganization, particularly in a person who is not
chronically disorganized, could indicate that
something else is afoot. In my case, it reflects the
fact that I am going through some transitions both in
my business and in my life in general. Is something
like this happening to you?
My mother was an organizer par excellence. Every
spring, she would pack up our family for a 3-month
move from Florida to New Hampshire, and every
August, she would pack us up again for the return
trip home. This always included closing one house
and opening up another at each end of the summer.
Yet when she was 70 and a widow, and was making
a permanent move from Florida to South Carolina
where she chose to retire, she was unable to get
organized or get packed. Why? Clearly, this transition
overwhelmed her and stopped her in her tracks,
despite the fact that she had willingly chosen this
move and despite the fact that she had always been
a master at packing and moving.
If you are normally pretty organized, but find yourself
in a messy or chaotic situation in some aspect(s) of
your life, ask yourself, "What's up with this?" If you
find that you are becoming scared, anxious,
overwhemed, scattered, disorganized, depressed, or
immobilized by a life event such as a major transition,
reach out and get support. Today!
For all of us who find that being disorganized gets in
the way of accomplishing our goals or being all we
could be, I recommend reading this book: It's Hard
to Make a Difference When You Can't Find Your Keys
by Marilyn Paul, Ph.D. I heard Marilyn Paul speak
last week, and found what she had to say extremely
valuable. To read more about this book and this
topic, check out my Blog article, Getting
Organized, which was posted on September 23rd.

| Update on the Letting-Go Experiment |
 |
|
On June 14th, I began a one-year experiment on
letting go of unwanted and unneeded "stuff" in my
life. This includes not only material goods, but also
habits, practices, body weight, and intangibles like
limiting beliefs and fears.
To see how this experiment is progressing after three
months, check out the Blog article, Letting Go
Experiment: Month 3. If you're a new reader and
haven't been following this experiment from the start,
there are other background articles also posted in
the Blog.

What do tennis giant Andre Agassi and the poet John

Hint: It has something to do with success, fulfillment,

I believe that true happiness and fulfillment comes to
us when we know who we are, when we are
comfortable and confident living in our own skin,
when we know what we want from Life, and when
we focus our best efforts on going for our dream -
whatever that may be. Whether you are an individual
or a business, I support you in this quest.
