LifeWork Letter On Play
July 2006

Greetings!

Welcome to LifeWork Letter!

LifeWork Letter is a complimentary monthly e-Newsletter from Connie Komack and LifeWork Enterprises, with tips, quotes, and short articles designed to enrich, empower, and forward the growth of your life, career, or business.

Our theme for this month is Play. What better topic could there be for a summer issue? As I wrote about kicking back in the summertime, I decided to take my own advice. So, this newsletter will be shorter than usual - less demand on your time and mine!

Please feel free to visit my Blog site, which contains a series of articles relating to life, business, and career transitions. The most recent entry is an update on my year-long experiment in letting go. The entry was written after the first 30 days. Each month, I will write an update in my Blog, so if you are curious to see how this experiment in letting go (of one thing a day for 365 days) is progressing, then stay tuned to the Blog!

This Saturday, I leave for Orlando, Florida - a trip that is part business, part vacation, and all Play, as far as I am concerned. I will be attending the annual convention of the National Speakers Association for four days and then enjoying some of the theme parks for another three days.

The next Designing Your Life workshop series begins Wednesday, September 13th, and will run for six weeks. See details below. Please contact me if you are interested in joining this group.

Feel free to share this newsletter with others. It is easy to do by clicking on the forward email link at the bottom of this newsletter.

Enjoy your summer!

Connie

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

    - Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward

    Kicking Back in the Summertime

Each of us needs time to play – to kick back, relax, and have fun. Rest, relaxation, fun, and a change of scene are absolutely necessary to our well-being, and are an important ingredient in creating a healthy work/life balance.

Wherever you are this summer, and whatever your obligations may be, I hope you are taking some time to relax, play, and take life easy. In this way, you recharge your batteries and are able to bring fresh and balanced energy to all aspects of your life.

    Summer Reading

For me, “kicking back in the summertime” includes the opportunity to catch up on my reading. I have a large stack of books in my “summer must-read” pile, and my goal is to read one a week.

In addition to a stack of novels – and I LOVE reading good fiction – here is a partial list of books in the field of personal and professional development that I have been reading this summer and heartily recommend to my readers:

Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, by Malcom Gladwell. [Little,Brown; 2005]

Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work & in Life, One Conversation at a Time, by Susan Scott. [Berkley Books, 2004]

Goal-Free Living: How to Have the Life You Want NOW!, by Stephen M. Shapiro. [John Wiley & Sons, 2006]

Now What? 90 Days to a New Life Direction, by Laura Berman Fortgang. [Tarcher/Penguin, 2005]

The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent: Living the Art of Allowing, by Esther and Jerry Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham). [Hay House, 2006]

The Energy of Money: A Spiritual Guide to Financial and Personal Fulfillment, by Maria Nemeth. [Ballantine Wellspring, 1999]

What's on YOUR reading list this summer?

If you have been powerfully affected by a book in the personal/professional development field, I would love to hear from you. Which book(s) do you recommend and why? How did it (they) impact your life?

    Designing Your Life Workshop Series

Are you bored, restless, confused, or unsure of your future direction? Are you longing to create a more fulfilling life and/or career, but aren't sure where to start? Are you entering a new life stage or another type of life or work transition, and feel stalled or overwhelmed? Could you benefit from the guidance of a coach and support from your peers as you sort out your next steps?

If this describes you, the Designing Your Life program is for you! If you know of someone else who would benefit from this program, please pass the word along.

This interactive group coaching workshop series is being offered this fall, beginning in September. We will meet on Wednesday evenings, from 7-9pm, for six weeks, from September 13th through October 18th.

The location is still to be determined, but it will be somewhere on Boston's North Shore, between Peabody and Rockport.

The fee is $275.00 and includes a copy of the Designing Your Life Workbook.
